That picture screams Radio Shack to me. And I bet that K5 has been sitting on that same shelf since 1986.

It was a shitty pic, they want $400 for it! (not radio shack, actually an RC place in CT)

Kind of just look like chromed versions of the stock wheels K5's would have come with.
Regardless of the vintage, that is one cool looking truck. I always wanted a "real" RC car. All I ever had was the Tyco stuff. Although the Fast Traxx that replaced my Turbo Hopper was pretty badass.

my mom always got me shitty tyco stuff too, and all my friends had Lunch Boxes and stuff. I think I am old enough, but $400 for something I didnt build...damn I pay that for real cars sometimes

I so badly wanted a lunchbox, or a grasshopper. But I'd probably would have blown the thing up anyway. Maybe my mom was smart with only getting me the Tyco stuff.

I payed exactly that for my Taurus lol. But then again, when i was real heavy into RC i had/have about $10k worth of RC stuff over about 9 vehicles. The Slayer I build had about 3 grand into alone.

Top to bottom,
Tamiya F-104Pro, with a Ferarri F60 shell, i just bought a new shell, will be painting it up soon,
The 80mph Traxxas Slayer, CF chassis, OS engines bigblock, whole nine yards.
And thr bottom is a 2wd Traxxad Slash. Its wearing a Jconcepts '79 F250 that i painted up.
Not pictured, an old Tamiya TT-01 with a parma '49 Merc body, a Tamiya M-05 Pro that thinks its a lemon yellow Civic, A bone stock Traxxas Tmaxx and a Traxxas Revo set up for road racing.
Maybe ill make a post.

Depends on what you want to do with it. Those bodies were injection molded plastic, pretty heavy, easily damaged. If you want to race it or bash it, you'll want a polycarbonate/lexan shell. You could make your own lexan body if you have access to a vacuum forming machine, just use the hard ABS plastic Brat body as a positive mold. Check ProLine and Parma ESC, they have good stuff.

That being said, if yoy want to go rock crawling or slow off roading, the heavier ABS body would be better. And you can really make those ABS bodies look nice. shaving door handles, filling gaps, hell, do a real base-clear paint job.
